Enhanced skills acquisition for Emergency Department physicians

Aim: Enhancing skills acquisition of ED physicians throughout BC for certification in ED Ultrasound and / or attendance at an Ultrasound Course, Attendance at an AIME course (Airway Intervention and Management in Emergencies); and attendance at an Emergency Medicine Simulation Training Course.

Summary: Current residents are trained in the use of Ultrasound in the Emergency Department (ED), have attended an Airway Intervention and Management in Emergencies (AIME) course and are familiar with Simulation–Based Training – but those in the Specialty who received their training in the 90’s or early 2000 are not. This funding allowed some of the more mature Emergency Department physicians the opportunity to acquire these enhanced skills.
