Patient Follow-up Fees (G10003 and G10006)

Please note that there are new specialist advice fee codes for COVID-19. Click here to learn more.

See SSC Fee Guide before billing these fees.

Purpose

The purpose of this fee is for the specialist to provide advice by phone, email or video conference when the intent of communication is to replace the need for the specialist to see the patient in person.

Sizing it Up

SSC developed these fees to increase specialists' capacity, improve patient access to specialists’ expertise and improve the coordination of patient care.

Things to Know

The consulting specialist is responsible for ensuring that an appropriate communication modality is used to meet the medical needs of the patient. A face-to-face service must have been billed for the same patient by the same physician within the preceding 18 months.
